Doylestown Airport Hosts Annual “Celebration of Flight”
Open House on May 17
Doylestown Airport will celebrate its 80th anniversary with a day of family-oriented activities including free plane rides, unique and historic aircraft, plane chats for kids, music, food and demonstrations
During the Open House the Central Bucks Athletic Association (CBAA) will sponsor a flea market to raise funds for a proposed club house at the Herbst Field Sports Complex
BUCKINGHAM, Pa. – The third annual “Celebration of Flight” Community Open House will be held Saturday, May 17 (raindate Sunday, May 18) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Doylestown Airport, located at the intersection of Old Easton and Landisville Roads. This event is sponsored by the Bucks County Airport Authority and the Doylestown Pilots Association.
During the open house, guests will enjoy a variety of family-oriented activities including free airplane rides from noon to 4 p.m. (sign-ups for the rides begin at 10 a.m.), live music, refreshments, demonstrations – including a YAK formation fly-by and landing, antique aircraft fly-by and landing, Radio Control Flyers, and Power Parachuters (weather permitting) – and a display of historic aircraft and memorabilia in celebration of the Airport’s 80th anniversary.
A variety of aircraft, representing eight decades, will also be on display during the open house, including a 1928 Pitcairn Mailwing, a 1939 Culver Dart, a 1947 Christen Eagle and 1948 Luscomb, a 1950's Aeronca Champ and a 1966 Mooney.
Guests may take part in a CBAA-sponsored flea market that will raise funds for a proposed club house at the Herbst Field Sports Complex. The flea market will be held at the Airport during the Open House (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) and will feature new, vintage and collectible items as well as arts and crafts. This year marks CBAA’s 35th anniversary.
